Rhianna, Chris Brown, Akon, Jason Derulo, Drake, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber … all these people have at least one thing in common: music.“I like listening to music wherever I am. Music is my life,” says 8th grade student Jamila Nasser. People often wonder what the kids these days are listening to. They wonder why the headphones to their iPods or MP3 players are always jammed into their ears. Many teens now a days are always tuned in to see what is new in the music”world”.
“My favorite musicians are Eminem and Chris Brown,” explains 8th grade student, Dima Elhorr.“Their music is really touching,” she adds, and she’s not the only one who thinks so. After a short survey of Mr. Shane Shockey’s 5th hour Science class, the majority of the kids liked rap. The musician Eminem was one of the top hits. “Moves Like Jagger,” a song by Maroon 5, was also a favorite.
Of course, there were other favorites too. Some musicians popular with this class were Lady GaGa, Rhianna, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and Jason Derulo. Moreover, some best-loved songs include “Born This Way” by Lady GaGa, “Someone Like You” by Adele, “We Found Love” by Rhianna and “Save Me” by Nicki Minaj. This was only the beginning.“When I’m listening to music, I feel calm and relaxed,” 7th grade student Fatima Charara exclaims. Music tends to lighten people’s moods. Usually, when you are sad or looking for sympathy, music gives that to you. Researchers found that music is considered an expression of thought and emotions. Music puts your feelings into words or phrases that usually you wouldn’t be able to do just by talking.
“I love it. I don’t think I’d be able to go on life without it,” Jamila says.
